I'm looking for a vert partition, I did a search and found a few vender's that sell them, what is everyones preference, any DIY projects. How well do these work for eliminating exhaust noise or drone? I get a bit of drone with my after market exhaust system in 6 gear, but only with the top up at about 1500-1600 rpm,70 mph. Top down no drone! Any thoughts.
I too was disappointed in the rear noise level when I bought my 04' vert last July.
I bought a Compartment Divider from Eclers. See page 54-bottom left of there 2008 catalogue. I chose this one after some research because it "plugs in place" and seals the compartment completely with 2-1/2"high density foam.Easy to install and remove. The fit is perfect.
I already had the "Sound Killer" dividers as advertised on the same page. The Sound Killers by themselves did not do well. But when I added the "Quite Ride" foam it made a substantial difference.
It was worth the money.
Also it does not interfere with the top when it is down.
One note:
When you add a divider, access to the center trunk compartment is blocked and the divided must be removed for access to this trunk compartment.
I have solved this problem. If its a problem for you I can elaborate further as to the solution.

I bought a Compartment Devider from Eclers. See page 54-bottom left of there 2008 cataloge. I chose this one after some research because it "plugs in place" and seals the compartment completely with 2-1/2"high density foam.Easy to install and remove. The fit is perfect.

Hi, I bought the same divider from ecklers, foam with black fabric covering on one side and the logo on it. I used velcro to help keep it from being pushed out of place when stuff in the trunk bounces against it. In all honesty I don't feel it cuts down on the noise very much, but maybe when I get rid of the oem tires and get michelins it will be better. I have no problem accessing the center compartment, it just comes up from under it.. The one good thing it does is keep stuff from rolling all over the trunk, and things that you want to stay behind the seats stay there.
Good Luck
I had the ecklers piece on my 02 z06 and my wife agrees it was the best
$100 I spent on the car. It definitely quieted the exhaust a bit, the stereo sounds so much better, and the a/c cools and heats much faster. I will be buying another one for my 00 frc very soon. You will not be disappointed.
Thanks I will check out the ecklers partition, buy the way I made the the switch from runflats to kuhmo nonrunflats and what a inmprovment on sound and traction.
Its well made although the velcro occasionally comes adrift. Its easy to refix it though. I've had mine a good few years and it still looks like new. The black of the carpet covering is a great match.
My car has a stock exhaust. Not sure how much it improves the noise although it does have some effect. I suspect the frost king mod may be the best way to do that. It protects the roof when its down and stops stuff on the shelf rolling back into the trunk.
Overall I think it was a great buy.
I have seen templates around and I wouldn't imagine its too difficult to DIY a partition if you had the time.
I decided to make my own divider. I used boarding material, sound deadner, leather and carpet. I did the divider and all the other pieces of the entire trunk compartment for less than 1/2 the cost of buying just the divider.
Making the trunk lid and partition templates as near to perfect as possible took some time, but the final outcome was well worth the time involoved.
Easy DIY mod.
I'm very happy with how it turned out.

by boarding material do you mean foam board or plywood?

You have to get spell check!!
The partition that I bought from one of the supposed good vendors, that also sells insulation is the only money I truly regret spending.
