I'd call either Goodyear or Tirerack to find out for sure, but I agree with Patman in that it doesn't make any sense for Goodyear to drop their best selling super-high performance tire they've ever made. This tire has received many, many accolades for its incredible performance. I'm sure it is alive and well.

And even if for some odd reason they do decide to stop production of one of their most popular performance tire ever, I'm sure they'll replace it with something else even better. They're not going to just stop production of something and not fill that gap with a different product.
I ran into the same problem back in January when I was looking for tires. I settled on the Michelins, but while at the Goodyear dealer looking for just two OEM replacements for my fronts, I considered the GS-D3s and attempted to order them but they were on backorder as well. My understanding was that the Goodyear plant that makes the GS-D3s is in Germany and that production was slow and not meeting the demand for them in the U.S. I see it still is a problem
They (GSD3's) have been on indefinate backorder for 2 months now. I've been screaming to get them in my store to our distribution center. I can honestly say I have lost 3 $1500 sales because I couldn't get a set in store within a week. I have however, since, found a stash of a few sets. One of which I sold today! I'm actually getting positive customer feedback from them, and the demand is speaking for itself. Perhaps I may need to re-evaluate my opinion of goodyear's product lines. 97C5
A few people have mentioned tirerack.com, but Mavis has a name your own price option which is sweet. (On top of their already discount tires) I used it recently and got a good deal on Goodyear's. Go here, www.mavistire.com and then to the "You Name The Price" page, you just need to known the brand and size of the tire. It's worth a shot for anyone if you're in the North East, but they ship also.
runflats= insurance
regular Z rated tires = performance
Runflats have VERY stiff sidewalls which means less grip and more noise...
I think it's hillarious that you all bicker over RF vs. Non-RF. It's a compromise in performance to get some insurance when you don't have a donut in the trunk, the engineers themselves acknowledge that, though the RFs have gotten better in later iterations.
I just did the research for myself and waffled a lot about the added cost, but what I found was that the BEST street tire (dry, wet, treadwear) is the Michelin Pilot SuperSport - and you pay for it
