I broached the subject with a county police officer once. He said the officer was probably having a bad day if he pulled you over for simply not having a front plate. I've been frontless for years, starting with my Z28 and now on my C5. I've been scrutinized many times but never stopped. Once, I was stopped for a dead sticker and the officer asked why I did't have a front plate. Truthfully, my plate & bracket got tore off by the garage door and I never got around to remounting it. He let me slide for the plate and sticker but wrote me up for the seatbelt. He was a good guy and I respect the police a lot. I don't squirrel around, I have an excellent driving record, and I have never been in an accident (except once when I was 16- not my fault).
And finally (not related), If you ever see me in a police video running from the cops and they catch up with me and they have to drag me out of the car, I give them cart blanche to beat my ***. I would deserve it just like everyone else that runs from the cops and puts peoples lives in jeopardy.
