I've read this question a few times and quite frankly it reads to me as if "can the catch can be re-used?" If it read "Can you reuse the oil from the PCV Oil Catch Cans?" it would be an easy answer.

Or maybe I'm just having a hard time over here!

Probably not smart to put used oil back in.

Save a nickel and risk a $

The oil in the car is no more used then the oil that is in the PVC Catch Cans. I never have put it back in the car and I never intended to reuse it. I use a Amsoil and my low oil light came on and I only had one quart left. Sometimes it takes my Amsiol dealer to get me a new one.

I'll just echo the other posts except this is the place to ask questions, sometimes you may feel silly in asking, but go ahead and ask. The oil in your car needs to be as clean as possible. The oil in your catch can has beed all through the engine and the PVC system and is not only a small amount but it's not all that clean. So in short don't use it. Go to Walmart and buy yourself some extra quarts of oil for the times you need to top off the engine. I'd look into the reason your getting what I assume to be a lot of oil in the catch can. Normally you should be getting a very little in the can. If this is not the case I suppose your getting a lot of blow-by and that could indicate another source. good luck!

I wouldn't use it in my lawnmower, let alone in my vette.

I wouldn't reuse it in mine... and FYI, for those that weren't aware of it, AMSOIL can be ordered online at dealer wholesale prices via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Normal shipping time is about 2 business days.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why the oil couldn't be re-used. It's in the same closed environment as the rest of your oil so I don't see why not.

There are no silly questions - only silly people that ask them.

By the time the oil condenses in the catch can its probably going to have a fairly high content of water...Oil's cheap (by the quart).
