I have a 1999 that supposedly has the C5 Z06 brakes. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Z06 Calipers and Rotors is vs the stock components and how you can tell the difference?
Also the Z06 pads are an upgrade over the stock pads. I believe that they are a Hawk pad although I have never seen real proof. But the rest of the parts are all the same.
Indeed, I have RED calipers so they ARE Z06 but what I wanted to make sure of was that I am prepping the car to take to BIR again. Last time I was there I had fade issues so I bought some Doug Rippie Stainless Steel Caliper pistons to reduce heat transfer a little and also installed a brake bias spring to dial in more rear brake. What I needed to know is that I am buying some Carbotec brake pads (XP12's front, XP10's rear) and needed to know whether there was any difference in the pads from a sizing perspective. Same for the rotors, if they were different diameters. Apparently they are not. I bought a set of Aimco rotors. They are very low cost at Auto Parts Warehouse ($26 each) and the guys at Carboteck told me that they are a good rotor and not to wast money on slotted or drilled.
