Default C5 Tail Light Seals. DIY

OK, Here is a great DIY mod, Last year I bought a Seal kit and when I went to install the seals I found that the seals (4 of them) would only go around 1/2 of the tail light and ended up getting rid of them, Trash can, @ weeks ago I thought about it again and what I did was to to lowes and bought some 3M weather stripping in black it was about 1/8 or maybe a bit larger and took out my tails out and installed the weather stripping around the whole tail light, On the outer red rim of the tail, Had a bit of a time getting the tails back in, I just used a little windex and they went right in, When I bought the kit it was like 20 bucks plus shipping, This DIY cost me only 9.95 and I have enough for maybe 4 more cars..lol
My dirpping Rear end is gone, Maybe I can try to seal the mirrors the same way.

Forgot to add, Be sure to clean the tail lights with Denatured Alcohol so the adhesive will stick better.

I have to say I did that mod a while ago. The mega $ for the kit seemed just too much

I'll add this bit - it's better if the seal's joint is at the top rather than the bottom. I butted my seals as good as I could get them but a bit of water always gets in the crack and drips later. I think this won't happen if the joint is at the top.

The forum ones can't be removed (and maybe the Lowes' ones too) as the adhesive gets wrecked. To give the forum vendor his credit, he will replace free any seals for any reason. He offered me some last fall but I haven't taken him up on it yet.
