I got hit need help
I was hit in the rear so hard it threw me back. I got of the car to find two young guys in a old car saying that his brakes slipped and could we pull over so not to block traffic. I did but when I looked around they were leaving the down the street
and I was blocked in. My problem now is my car all it has are just scratches across the rear bumper my question is could there be damage behind the bumper or are the scratches it and I got lucky ?
I hope nothing major happened to your car behind the fascia.

Sorry you were in the wrong place at the wrong time!

It just steams me
when I hear of things like this. Some folks just can't accept the fact that they are accountable. Everything is the fault of someone or something else.
Since the scratches need to likely get painted, you might as well have the body shop hear the whole story and then inspect things.
I got hit similarly with my Bravada SUV... It looked only superficial but there was damage to the metal bumper that supports the rear fascia and the sytem that absorbs the shock of the impact.

They also replaced both exhausts from the axle back as they determined it was necessary. Like someone else said, don't make assumptions just based on a visual external inspection.
To be honest though, if I were doing this on my own dime I would have just had the left exhaust adjusted since it wasn't bent or broken (the tip was literally just nicked), and had Corsa tips put on (which I did anyway), and I probably wouldn't have replaced the bumper cover when it appeared it could have just been repaired and repainted. Would have dropped the cost from about $4K to about $1500. But like I said, it wasn't my dime or my call, so no complaints from me, aside from the fact that I had a screwed up car for 6 weeks and my XMAS was ruined
.It's not that I would have been cutting corners, the body shop IMO was doing more work and replacing more parts than they needed to just so they could make more money off of it. The bill showed two replacement exhausts at about $670 each side for the muffler back. That's HIGHER than MSRP, and I've found those same parts for only about $350ish online at GMPartsDirect.com. The body shops don't just make money off their labor, they make money off the parts too because they charge retail or higher and don't pay anywhere near that, and sometimes don't even use genuine parts when they claim they are.
I would get an estimate from a really good body shop, as well as one from a less expensive shop for comparison purposes. If you have a shop or somebody that you really trust, even better. You should have it done right, but that doesn't necessarily mean you should take it to the place with the highest estimate.
Anyway, just my personal story from my recent similar experience. That really sucks that the guy got away, man I wouldn't have taken my eye off of him for a second if we were moving our cars. Good luck with your repairs!

Just my 2 cents.

Was parked in a hotel parking lot and had a hit and run. It didn't do anything more than push the facia in untio the clear coat cracked on the top.
Took it in and the shop stripped it off to check for damage. My RR inside light was cracked at the base where the bulb goes in and it had to be replaced. Total for that and repaint (to match ) was 678.20. Don't think that a few scratches is nothing. have a professional check it out.
