Default C.a.g.s.

Ok, I've had my car for 2 months now, And this 1-4 Shift is really starting to get on my nerves!! I know if you don't pu$%y foot 1st gear, it will not engage, but sometimes I just do..Is it just a matter of un-plugging the solenoid, ( where is it? ), or is there a bypass kit like I used for CLB?? Thanks for your input...Tom

There is a bypass kit, called CAGS Eliminator much like your CLB available from just about any Corvette supplier.

You just unplug the connector from the trans (drivers side I think) and plug in the Eliminator. Piece of cake.

The light will still come on but you'll be able to select any gear. If the light bothers you, a tuner can kill that as well.

It is on the drivers side about 2/3 of the way to the top, about 2/3 of the way to the rear if I recall correctly. Once you get under there all you need is a small flat blade screw driver to pry the snap lock up to pop the plug apart. Snap the bypass into the wire harness, secure the lose wire pop in the solenoid plug and that's it.Only takes a few minutes once your under there.

got mine from Corvettes of Houston (under $20)
There are also members that have made their own... it is a under $1 resistor that is needed... what you pay for is having that resistor encased in a plug and play connector.

The cags eliminator is a must have. The "purists" will say drive it correctly and it isn't an issue. Real world says it is.
Get one, you won't regret it.
Once it's in the air, it's a 5 second install. Do it with your next oil change.

I guess the "purists" would not install a CLB either!

I never have a problem at all with it. In normal city driving I shift from 1st to 3rd to 5th. If I want to get on it I run the gears. It really isn't necessary to go thru each gear as a purist would do.

Here's a picture of a CAGS eliminator device installed on my Z06...simply unplug the cable from the transmission & plug it into the CAGS eliminator device...they also provide you with a "blank" to plug into the transmission to keep the connectors clean. Simple & easy 2 minute install.

Nope, and they shouldn't! A purists vette came with a end of service date: the day the column locks. At that point it becomes a 1:1 scale model car (with working suspension, but no turning tires - lol) to be towed to the garage of their choice.

Anyone who says they've never had CAGS kick in, has not taken a right hand turn behind someone going extremely slow... I am notorious for not upshifting until well into 2k RPMs, but every once and awhile....
