Default Got pulled over tonight

Ok, I've had my car for 2 months now, and must be getting a little too comfortable..Mom called and there was a problem with her medication dispensing machine. Enter her Gated community, driving a little spirited..Got pulled over by 2 security vehicles!! 30mph in a 20mph..issued some sort of warning..Is this my wake-up call...SLOW it down before I get a real ticket...Just thought I would share that....Tom

It's too easy in these cars. Sometimes I look down and can't believe how fast I'm going, really unbelievable

Just the nature of the beast I guess.

Security guards in a gated community with radar? They are charging your mother too much for asociation dues.

At least you didn't get a ticket. Got to watch it in these cars - its not hard to lose track of just how fast you are going.

Not saying you should have gone this route, but keep in mind, security guards have no right to detain you. You cannot be arrested by a security guard. You could have politely told them to call the cops and drive around them to your mother's place. You could have explained to the officer that it was an emergency and nothing would have happened. Nothing to really worry about speeding around at night. But plz don't speed durring the day when kids are at play.

But at any rate, know the laws. Tell them to stick it.

I understand why you stopped, you wouldn't want to get momma-dukes in any hot water, but still. Let them know it's an emergency.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, even real police cannot give a moving violation on private property..which this is. I stopped because it was dark, sirens, lights..wasn't sure at the time who it was pulling me over..no sense making a bad situation worse. Still, thoughts of insurance rates ran through my head...Scary

Each state is going to be different in how they interpret "private property". In Va ,parking lots, gated communities and ect are not state maintained, but the motor vehicle laws apply because they are for use of the public. The only instance I can think of where the motor vehicle laws do not apply would be something like you and your friends built a road on your personal property not for public use. Say an 1/8th mile drag strip if you had the property...but even then DUI and reckless driving laws could apply.

I have a tough time driving my car at 20 in a school zone.

If I had to drive at that speed on a regular basis, I may need a "medication dispensing machine"

OK, on a serious note, you are a wild man for driving 30 MHP!!!!

Slow it down there young man!

You did the right thing. This will not affect your insurance or driving record.

Did you have teachers threaten you with "this could go on your permanent record"?

That ticket could. The permanent record is all BS. The ticket is only valid where your mom is. They may not allow you to come in there in the vehicle if you commit the offense again.

So drive the speed limit while you are visiting your mom and all should be fine.

Tell her Coz says hi!

If I'm not mistaken, if it is a road and you are driving on it the cops have jurdistiction there. Parking lots and things like that are private property.

I used to get parking tickets all the time for parking my motorcycle on the sidewalk at the mall. They were just warnings though. My friends and I would sit back and laugh at the security guards when they were writing the warnings. They always act like they are "respectable personnel" and people are supposed to be scared of them

A girl that I used to date had a private property incident one time. We were driving down a row at a parking lot at a book store one day. All the sudden this girl just backs out without looking behind her and T-bones my girlfriends car (GF was driving and I was passenger). We called the cops and they came but they told us they couldn't claim fault because it was private property. Luckily the girl admited fault. We would have been in a world of crap if she wouldn't have. That would have been a bad situation if she had decided to deny it ever happened or whatever
