My friends 99 had the drivers side right rear bracket for the vertical seat adjuster broken. It is made from cast aluminum and was not designed to take much of a load (such as using the top of the seat to leverage yourself getting in and out.)
Since we don't have the equipment to weld aluminum we made a replacement out of steel.
Both of the rear seat brackets on the drivers side of my 97 were broken and the rear of the seat was caught on the rear of the seat rails. Lifted the back of my very wobley seat to get to the rear seat boltsand got the seat out. After looking at brookman's post and pictures I made a trip to Ace hardware with the broken seat bracket and found some steel spacers that are the exact same dimensions as the braket cups that the seats riser rides in. To make them look as close to stock I traced out the old bracket and notched them to hold the steel spacer. Welded it all up and they function perfectly... I have pictures if anyone would like to make their own replacements. Email me.
