just wondering, my 98 front Leaf spring had the bolts sheared off to lower the car, but I want to raise the car now. Question is, I found a used leaf spring and was wondering if a 2004 would work ok (because of suspension upgrades on the newer model). I know it would fit, but would it give me a poor ride or anything if i don't upgrade the other components in suspension? thanks
It will fit. I would do the rear also to match. FYI the front spring is a PITA to install. Rear is no problem. I installed Zo6 Spring on my coupe. I still have the base springs off my coupe if you need them, you just pay shipping from Florida.
I would imagine it is the same spring as long as you get a base suspension spring and not a Z06, Z51 or one from a car with the magnetic ride. Even then, the magnetic ride one might be the same.
The front spring is pretty easy. Just don't follow the directions given on the forum. To do it you just do this;
1. Jack car up and support on jack stands about 20" high.
2. Remove drivers side wheel.
3. Put jack under spring in the Y of the lower arm and take spring pressure off arm.
4. Mark the lower A-arm bolts and remove them.
5. Pull the lower arm out and get it above the spring.
6. Remove the 4 bolts holding the spring to the cradle.
7. Drop the jack and remove the spring.
To re-install, just reverse the procedure. Mark the lower a-arm bolts carefully because if they don't go back in the exact same location you will mess up the alignment.
is it really worth it to do Z06 springs? I May just end up doing that If you really get an improvement. Especially if your saying its a PITA install, might aswell make it worth while

thanks for the notes BTW peter, much appreciated!!

You're welcome. There is a posts/DIY write-up showing to remove both calipers and undo both upper arms and undo the top of both shocks and disconnect both sway bar end links. Probably some more stuff I missed as well. Then, once there the base spring can still hang up in the lower arm which the write-up does not tell you to remove. Doing that much work is NOT needed. Just pull ONE lower arm off the cradle.
