Default The C5 Corvette (chest beating)

Faster than 99% of the cars you'll see on the freeway traveling with you, faster than 99% of the cars you'll see on city streets.

Better styling, better handling, better mileage.

Amazing really. Thanks GM.

Jason, I don't know if you've read "All Corvettes are Red" by James Schefter.

It's a good read and it gives an insight into just how great a job the Corvette Team did when they designed this amazing Sports Car.

We moan about some cheap parts and some design ****les but this book puts everything into perspective.

100%. What a great piece of design and engineering at <$50k but I shipped mine half way across the world so I guess I would say that wouldn't I?

I have a friend who is a "snooty" foreign car owner (Audi S4) who has driven and ridden in my Corvette. He talks to my sons when they visit and comments on how my Corvette, creaks and groans, and how stiff it rides.

I say, find a better sportscar for $53K new if you can! I KNOW my car will out accelerate that Audi, out-handle it as well, AND STILL DELIVER BETTER GAS MILEAGE than that Turbo 6 cylinder.

When I get old (90) I might get a German sports sedan so I can take my old lady friends to the $5 all you can eat buffet, in the mean time, I'll keep enjoying my Corvette. Funny thing, you drive the Corvette into town and half the population cranes their necks to get a look, and that's a car with a body designed 11 YEARS AGO!!!! The Audi, just another ubiquitous German sedan, as they all are!

replying to black n tan isnt it strange with these foreign car owners they think America isnt supposed to produce a great car. Ross Perot used to say if it wasnt for America they,d be saying "ya-vol " every morning instead of pip pip cherio and ooh la-la

i had a z06 last year for about two weeks untill i allowed a "friend"to drive it and wreck it. Whe it came time to replace it this spring had saved more money and looked for three months solid into getting a gen 2 viper. I mad a list of all of the pros and cons of each car and said to myself "The corvette is such a superior machine on so many levels it would be stupid to buy anything else. There is no other car in the world that will give you the preformance/handeling/comfort/styling that a corvette does for the money. I am extreemely grateful for Zora Duntov and the current designers for improving on perfection. Needless to say i did not buy a viper and came to my senses and bought this. Faster than 99.9 percent of cars that i will ever encounter and the wow factor that any $200,000 will have!

I agree. The C5 is truly an amazing car and when you consider the price there really is no comparison.

I read the book "All Corvettes are Red", and it is truly amazing that there corvettes are still around. The GM Corvette team risked everything to keep the corvette from going extinct, and the breakthroughs in performance and technology they accomplished are truly ground-breaking.
