I was just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem.
I have an 02 A4 with the standard 2.73 gear ratio. The problem I'm having is that when I'm on the highway cruising at normal speed (55-75 mph) and I go to pass someone, I hit the throttle and the transmission downshifts, starts to accelerate then cuts out as if I never hit the pedal. I immediately hit the pedal again and the car downshifts and takes off like a son-of-a-gun! It doesn't do this everytime, but has happened to me twice this week.
The only mods I've done that could be related are a Vararam and a velocity stack. The install of both was done about 6-8 weeks ago.

Personally I'd take the car to have it tuned (dyno). The shift points will be adjusted, among other things, and you'll feel like you have a new car. I have an A4 (3.15) as well and on my initial tune, CAI only mod, went from 283 rwhp to 312. You should also consider different gears. You'd notice a nice improvement with the 3.15 and even more so with a 3.42 - my next mod.
