Who has installed the kit made by vertical doors, inc.? I will be installing this kit next weekend. Any tips or tricks on the install? Does the wires in the door have to be lengthened?
Please no BS about lambo doors belong on a lambo.

First, you bought the best kit available. I haven't installed one on a vette, but I did install a kit on a Saturn Sky last year. There was no need for wire extensions, simply a rerouting of the existing wires. If extensions are necessary, they will be included in the kit. I know this didn't answer your question but I seriously doubt if wire rerouting will be necessary. There are several C5's and C6's on this forum that have installed the VDI kit, they will chime in when they see your thread.
I would eventually like to make this mod as well, would you mind updating with a final cost and estimated modding time when you finish? And i'd LOVE to see the finished product.

The parts delivery guy has one with Lambo doors. True story, Mark who owns the company brought the parts for the Jet Ranger over to the hangar in his new to him Diablo 6.0.
MY sponsor paid for half of my kit and I believe it was from vertical doors. The kit was quite simple and the wires did not have to be cut. The fender removal and trimming took longer than the actual door install, The shocks are very nice and will actually lift the door rather than you. Post pics when you get it done and good luck.

I noticed here that this picture has the doors going almost straight up and down. But yet on other cars it looks like the doors come further out away from the car? Can someone further explain.
Most of the door kits are adjustable. You can make them go out or in by adjusting a set screw. On mine I brought it in a bit more but not as much as the red vette. Some let them hang way out and it looks to put more weight on the hinge. On my kit you can actually adjust it out and it will open at nearly the original width for everyday use without putting the door up. Some kits also allow for the door to go up higher. My cuurent setting works great and is closer to the hood and trunk angle. It will all depend on how you like it and what you buy.

Steve, your kit really looks like a VDI kit. Looks really nice
hey bowtiebubba, im the one you bought the kit. it does not need any wiring extensions to make it work. if you have minor body experience, then you should not have any problem. the hardest part will probably be to take off the bumpers and the fenders.
