LED Lighting
EQUIPMENT-
1- a corvette!
[/IMG]2- a hangar or something similar to help thread the wire through

3- electrical tape.
4- a scissor or wire cutting tool to splice into the footwell lights.
5- any LED... i used a 15" LED flex light made by PILOT. I purchased it at autozone. It is super thin and fits under the door with no problem or rubbing!
6- some clear silicone if you really want to seal up the little piece of exposed wire that is present at the end of the install.
STEPS-
1-Open the door and get down under the door. You will see a square rubber piece. Just go ahead and pull it off. This will reveal a square shaped hole that goes right up inside the door.

2- Lower your windows.Using a hanger, straighten it out by untwisting it. Wrap the end of the flex light electrical wire to one end and secure it with tape. This way it doest slide down the hanger. Slide the end of the hanger that has the wire taped on in through the hole. Your going to have to feel around and find that smallish hole where you can put the hangar through. Its kind of at an angle right next to the metal washer thats there. You will realize if you have gone through the wrong hole if the hangar keeps going towards the door hinge (this is evident by the hanger not being able to advance anymore). Look at step 3 before continuing.

3- Now get the hangar started upward towards you. Take it easy and careful not to scratch the window as it is right there. To make it easier to see where the hanger is pull back the rubber molding that is at the edge closest to the door hing. By pulling it back you can see the hanger and which way its going. In this photo it shows the wire pulled through the top and at the very far upper right is that rubber molding piece that you can pull back on a bit to get a better view inside the window of the hangers progress.

3-So now you have the flex light LED part on the bottom of the floor and the end of the wiring towrds the top. Go ahead and pull the wiring through pretty much all the way.
4- Next step is to put the wiring through the accordian piece of rubber thats in the door hinge so you can pass the wire inside the car. Go ahead and pull off ONE side of this rubber accordian piece. DO NOT pull of the whole thing as it will make it difficult to put back on.

5-Now using your hanger again, bend it so that it will help pass the end of the wire as much through the accordian fold as possible. This part is a bit tricky as its pretty much a 90 degree bend. Get the hanger with the wire through as much as possible. Now you will need to look inside the car and up to the side where the rubber accordian piece comes into the car. Behind a piece of plastic with some foam on it is a big flat square piece of rubber. Pull this out a bit and rub your hand up to feel for the accordian piece of rubber. Go ahead and stick your hand/fingers in there and feel for the wire/hangar.

6-Once you have a hold of it pull it through all the way.

7-Next step is to splice it into the footwell light.

8- Just go ahead use a flat head screw driver to pop it off on one side and pull gently down. If you pull to hard like I did and the light comes off its wires, its no prob. Just unbolt the plastic piece thats right above your head and you will see a orange wire and a black wire. These will be the wires for the footwell lights.

THIS is what it will look like if you pull to hard. Dont worry because the wires are right there.

9-Next you will have to splice the LED wires into the foot well lights. I just cut the wire right at the footwell light. Basically cutting out the footwell light. Take the LED WIRE that has NO SILVER STRIPE and attach that to the BLACK wire of the footwell light, this is your ground. Next take the LED WIRE that has the SILVER LINE on it and attach that to the ORANGE WIRE of the footwell light, this is your power line. As soon as you do this they might not turn on. This will happen because you left your doors open for too long maybe. Close the door, lock it and open it back up. They shold turn back on. If they still dont then that means its too bright out and the lights wont turn on until it gets a bit darker. A great way of testing out to see if the lights work is by looking at the map light under the rear view mirror. If that map light is on then your LED lights should be on. You can also turn on your interior lights manually buy turning that **** thats on the far right corner of the dash board. P.S- Make sure to wrap up the ends in electrical tape.

10- Now that the lights are in and wrapped in electrical tape go ahead and start putting everything back. Tuck the wires away from view first. Put back the flat square rubber piece inside the door, the accoridan rubber piece on the door hinge. DO NOT PUT BACK THE flat square piece of rubber that is on the bottm of the door yet.
11- Measure where you want to put the actual LED LEX light. I put mine as far towards the door hing as possible. The felx light is 15" so its pretty long. I tested out placement of the LED light at night before i secured it to the bottm of the door. It really makes no difference if you put the light towards the door hinge or towrads the open end of the door. Once you have it place where you want go ahead and put that black peice of square rubber back in its hole.

12- This picture just shows where to put it. Place the LED flex light more towards the inside of the car. THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE IT IS IN THIS PICTURE. Towards the other weather stripping. this gives as much light possible to where you will step and gives a excellent cut off beam on the outer edge of the door towards the street.

13- BEFORE YOU ATTACH THE LED LIGHT using the double sided tape adhesive that it has, make sure you clean the area VERY WELL. I used alcohol to wipe the area down. Once you have cleaned go ahead and peel off the tape and stick it on. Remember get as close as possible to the inner edge of the door. Place it SLOWLY and run your fingers over it while pressing down to secure it.
14- Make sure that all your wires are hidden. its nice not to see ANY wires!! Looks like a professional install haha. You can now use the clear silicone if you want to put some on the little piece of exposed wire that runs to the led flex light and some on the aquare rubber piece that the wire runs into. Also you cant see the LED lights because they are so thin so it looks like the lights are built into the door!
15- Just repeat these steps for the other door and you are done!!! If anyone has any questions you can pm me here, email me at judge360@aol.com or you can call me if you want. Should I give out my cell numebr here? is it safe? Again, if you are in the long island/Queens area I would be glad to meet up and help anyone out. GOOD LUCK!! Trust me when your done youll be proud of how good it came out!! IF you want to see more install pics heres my photobucket http://s249.photobucket.com/albums/gg220/johnathanrn/
