....I would agree that it was Chevrolet that screwed it up in the first place. The C5 and especially the ZO6 version is a great car but the CL is unreliable and all three of the Chevrolet fixes have been proven to be unreliable. Your dealership provided poor service when they installed that latest fix without telling you that the CLB is a much more reliable solution.

I understand, but how unreliable can the fix be when the pin is removed completely? The CLB is a good fix to over ride the pin from engaging. The 04006C fix removed the pin, so there is nothing there to engage.
. I am waiting to get the CLB that I orderd and hopefully that will fix it while I'm installing that is when I'll check my wires to make sure I don't have a bad ground. Its frustrating to think that I might have to take it to a dealer and pay them to fix something that has been a problem since the factory
Dealer did first recall in 02' ....happened again...
Dealer installed the CLB and I havent had the problem since !!
You'll be fine !!

Only): If this message comes on, the steering column
lock system has detected a problem while engaging the
steering column lock. This message may occur when
the ignition key is removed and reinserted before the
steering column lock system fully locks or unlocks the
steering column. To acknowledge that you have read
this message, and to clear it from the display, remove
the ignition key and wait 10 seconds before reinserting
the key into the ignition. If you attempt to operate
your vehicle without removing the key for 10 seconds,
the vehicle’s fuel system will shut off when you reach
1.5 mph (2.4 km/h). If the message stays on after
removing the key and waiting 10 seconds, have your
vehicle taken to an authorized dealer as soon as possible
for diagnosis and repair.
As a funny the message came back right when GM said my car was ready, right in the pull through area. I said uhh still have the message should have seen them trying to fix it I had to come back the next day. I had the recalls, the K-harness (which is not the CLB), another reprogram, removal of the K-harness and a new actuator installed, thank goodness for the GMPP all of the above FAILED numerous times, installed the $48 CLB and have not had to deal with that crap again.
Good luck.
