Drove the Vette to a nearby small town today, and as I was coming back...I was in the center lane with a lane merging in on each side of me and this 4 wheel drive Toyota truck almost merged in on top of me.The Toyota was actually in a turning lane..but it didn't turn.I was door to door with it.I just excellerated and shot out in front of both trucks!!!Gave me a good scare!!This makes twice this has happen since I've owned the Vette!!!
Yesterday I saw an S2000 almost get smashed by another car that was changing lanes. I know that other drivers should be paying better attention but I think the low sports cars are harder to see than regualr size cars and trucks...maybe just people are not looking for something that low, I am not sure. Sort of like people who hit motorcycles always saying, "I didn't see it". Glad you avoided the collision.
Really have to be careful out on the road. Think it is because the C5 is so low, that people just don't see it. I always just assume other drivers don't see me, so I make sure that they know I'm there. Today I pulled up to a stop light, looked over to the car on the left and had to look up to see their side window. It was a Honda!

I think you are right, these cars are low to the ground!!!
It's funny that I read this post. Something like that JUST happened to me this week. I was merging onto the interstate and all of the sudden a VW zips over from the left lane and almost hits me. It makes me wonder if he even saw me.
The C5 seems like it should be easy to spot. Still, I agree with the other posters, people tend not to see low vehicles. I've gotten the feeling several times that another driver wasn't aware of me.
Here's the C5 parked next to a Mustang, which many driver's would consider "small".

Yup, I've experienced the same thing.....people don't see us. We're fast and low and my Pewter color makes me feel invisible sometimes. I drive like I'm riding a motorcycle.....defensive as hell.
But....we have the ability to GO....and STOP...quickly and easily. I use it to my full advantage....and keep my eyes open...
Twice in the last three days i had drivers wanting to go in my lane. Both made the lane change right at my front fender so i had enough time to stop. Week before that i had a lady pull out of a parking space and she was right at my door. Floored it and went sideways but she missed me. I thought for sure she was going to hit me. If the vette was stock she would of nailed me good. I guess the turbos finally paid for themselves.
We ARE INVISABLE !! Try driving a pewter one.Of corse what should we expect when some idiots cant see police cars, ambulances and fire trucks with flashing red blue and white lights and 3 to 10 times our size!!

I was driving down the road the other day and I was in the right hand (slow) lane. All the suden a very nice old restored fairlane came cruising up past me in the fast lane. I watched as he made is way up through traffic and all the sudden the car beside him (which was in the right lane) just merged over like they were changing lanes. He noticed quickly and dropped the hammer and scooted out of the way quickly. That thing must have had a big block in it or something because when he nailed it it sounded like a funny car
