Just another guys MGW thread...

I won't go into the install because there have been several threads with good write ups. Also pretty much what you read is exactly what you get in regards to effort and centering.
The MGW is a great shifter, not good, but great. The machining standards are top notch. All pieces are finish quality work (and it does not need to be because it is hidden when installed)
I have always liked the throw on my C5's clutch. Mine is very short and the engaging point is about an inch or less off the floor. I prefer this type of clutch set up because I find it easy just to stab the clutch and slip shift the gear box. The long stroke of the OEM shifter makes this virtually impossible, because the time it takes to complete the shift can not really be done as fast as you can stab the clutch.
I put a Hurst shifter in the car and took it out after a month, pretty much for all the reasons you have read before.
I put a Ripper in after the Hurst, took it out after a month because it hated 1st and R
I put the C6 shifter in and have had it for about a year. Good shifter, big improvement over the OEM C5 oar. My only issue with it is that the stroke (although better than the C5) was still to long for my preference and while you could slip shift the car, it felt sloppy and was more effort than it was worth.
I am happy to report that my right hand has now caught up with my left foot
Peace
