Default Abnormal Temp????

little help again please. Just traveled 20 miles @ 70 mph

outside temp 95+: coolant temp 220 trans temp 207 oil temp 226

Is this the norm or do I have a problem brewing? I hve the stock thermostat, but I did Hypertech the fans to cycle on at a lower temp (don't remember the exact setting). New water pump/hoses last month

All inputs will be appreciated. By the way, I do plan on getting a 160 thermostat. How much of a difference will that make?

For an outside temp of 95 that seems a bit high, but within limits.
Clean out the AC cooler and the radiator.
I removed the cover and used my air compressor to blow them both out. Bother were filled with garbage. straw, grass, sand etc.
Was running 198, now running 192.
As far as the tranny I'm installing an external cooler on Saturday.

Thats a little high for 70 mph with a temp of 95. I would clean out the rad.

At that speed and temp my C5 runs about 197 and my C4 runs about 195.

In traffic on a hot day its 226 fans come on down too 215, back to 226 fans come on down to 215 and lather rinse and repeat

Conditions you explain I would think 194 to 205 degrees would be normal. I put the 160 in my vert and now run 180 to 185 even when really hot out.

I agree on cleaning the radiator and AC out too, a cleaning rod with brush on the end used for dryer vents works great and you don't have to remove shroud. Just ramp or jack front up and you'll be amazed what you find up there.

Plastic grocery bags are attracted all of the time. remember it's a bottom feeder.
If you find small neighborhood children up there you know you're going to fact in the cul-de-sac.

I'm running a 160T-stat, A4, 2000C5, just finished some mods and a dynotune on Monday, from shop to home is about 85 miles, mostly cruised at 80mph home and I noticed water temp at 187, oil at 207, and tranny at 197, all that with outside temp of 95, humidity running around 60%. Before the mods my water temp on the highway same cruising speed, same 160T-stat (hypertech) was around 178*. So yes I would think that may be a lil high, the recommendations given so far will probably help you out.

I imported a Walmart bag into England hidden in the radiator inlet I wish it could have been some cheap gas but they drained the tank

Never could figure out why they drained the gas. I had a friend return from Upper Heyford (sp?) and they drained the gas and the oil from his XKE Jag back in the 70's. They also had him install a knox block and other items to downtune it for the American roads. Crazy.
Hope all is well with you at home Dee Gee.
Kick the tires and light the fire.
