I learned this mod from a guy I met at a car show. z07friek I think was his call sign. Went to Lowes and bought 15 chrome faucet hole covers.
The plastic retainers are a little too large to fit into the chrome covers so just trim 1/8" from the diameter with a sharp pair of scissors.
Spread the tangs out just a little so you can snap the plastic retainers in.
Crimp the tangs down around the retainer and you've got a great looking mod!!The faucet covers are the 1 1/2" size and cost $1.17each.Total cost for this mod about $18! Make sure and get the ones from the plumbing dept. I found the same thing in the hardware section in the pullout trays but the finish on those was crap! they were also more expensive.
Nice meeting you at the Heritage Square Show. Many of my DIY mods have been picked up from this site (lot's of great ideas and talented folks). I'll be heading back into the garage today. Just got my mag red fuel rail covers to install.

Take care & see you at the next show...Dave
Hey Dave;Sorry I messed up your callsign,I couldnt remember exactly but wanted to give you credit for the mod! I also got the screws that I saw on your car and they look great too! DId you have to trim a little off the diameter of yours or did you find smaller retainers?? By the way,I think we got hosed on the trophys that day.I thought yours would take first at least!! Met some great people thaat day so thats what counts!! Thanks again for the mod idea!
It's been a while, but I think I did have to trim a little.
On the trophy's...what kills me is that a C6 right off the lot (with temp tags) wins the C6 category and "best of show." Last year they did a good job of judging (I placed 3rd), not sure what they were thinking this year. Maybe I'll see you at Vettes on the Rockies. Great event and show with 500+ Corvettes.
Hmm..I tore up my local Lowes looking for these...and of course I got the "dumb" look when I talked to the associate back there, I'll just have to keep searching I guess.
Man I love hanging out on the forum!!! I love this sort of stuff.I like to think I am somewhat creative and imaginative,,But on here there is ALWAYS somebody a step or two ahead of me!! Props for this one,,great Idea!!
