Default column lock info

first off thanks MagRedConv directing me to the sticky tech site,it took me few mins to figure out how to get there.i take it that (man6,means 6 speed)and (a4 means auto)anyway i have 2001 -6 speed-after reading the owners manual, which is a2002 manual,i hit the reset button and it cleared the (service column lock)msg.so now after i start up i clear the fault and it doesn't come back on until i turn the car off and back on again.I'm wondering if i have to worry about ccolumn locking problems I've read about.

Order the bypass module from Corvettes of Houston. Install it takes about 20 minutes and your issue will be solved.

I would go ahead and get a column lock bypass kit and install it on the car. Can the column lock on you without the bypass - in a word, yes.

I finished my CLB install less than an hour ago.... not quite as simple as some suggest, but not that difficult if you have good instructions.....and the instructions that come with the Corvettes of Houston kit are not very good. If you decide to do it yourself, use the following:

http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=24

Much more detailed, with pictures.

Those are the best instructions. I found the hardest part being upside down with cervical disc problems and trying to manipulate in that limited space. If I can do it nearly anyone can.
