Like the title says, my car pulls to the left. 2002 Z06, stock size wheels and tires. Just put a new set of tires (toyo's) new set of GM shocks (all four) new stock front brake pads. Old tires (wide ovals) had excessive wear on the inside tread. Because of this I had an allignment done. It didnt feel right, pulled to the left and it was re-done w/ some minor adjustment. It still pulled to the left, took it to the dealer w/ up to date equipment and a pretty knowledgable tech. Allignment is supposely w/in specs and still pulls to the left. I flopped the front tires to see if its a "radial pull" and car still pulls left. Tech believes its in the tires and they need to settle in and may take up to +- 5000 miles on them. My thought is that's a crock! there would be a decent uneven wear by then. Keep in mind the dealer tech re-alligned the car a second time w/minor adjustments and still states its w/in specs. Thought It might be a brake pull but car steers straight during breaking. Is there something i'm missing?
Current Allignment:
left front: right front
camber= -0.6* camber = -0.6*
caster= 6.9* caster = 6.9*
toe = 0.03* toe = 0.02*
front
total toe = 0.05*
steer ahead
0.01*
left rear: right rear:
camber = -0.4* camber = -0.5*
toe = -0.04* toe = -0.08*
Is the pull to the left during drivng? We are not talking about during acceleration, right?
it pulls to the left while driving at a consistant speed. very noticeable at higher speeds. it does appear to pull during acceleration as well but i notice it more while driving. (if this makes sense).
too much left front and right rear tow, so yes the car will pull left.
Need to get those numbers exact, not with in a range.
Identical left and right front
Identical left and right rear.
I hate it when they use degrees. ( my math conversion skill are not too good)
1/32" to 1/16" toe OUT in front
1/32" to 1/16" toe IN for the rear
to make sure i understand, you dont mean all 4 (front and rear) need to be at the exact setting. just need the fronts to share the same setting and the rears so have their own exact setting, right?
with your adjustment mentioned i'm assuming by doing this we're trying to get those numbers as close to 0.00 as possible. is that correct.?
Rereading your post I see that you swapped the front tires side to side. A pulling problem can be related to rear wheels/tires/suspension almost as commonly as to the front wheels/tires/suspension. You mentioned in the other thread that the tire pressures were right on? Was that just the fronts or all four? I think people have been giving good advice. It might be tire related. It is rare but it does happen for two tires labled the same size to be different in size. I would lift the car and measure circumference of tires and while up on lift spin each one to see if brakes might be dragging on one of them. Also look at how the new shocks are installed and try shaking the crap out of each of them to see if maybe one end of any of them did not get fully tightened.
Good luck,
Jeff
If everything else checks out okay try taking it to a totally different alignment shop and have them align it and be sure to tell them about the pulling.
Jeff

good info. I'll try it. also all 4 tires had proper psi in them.

Reason: additional info
i appreciate all the info everyone is giving. feel free to give more info. more is better. as soon as this gets corrected i will let you know what cured it. thanks again.
spoke to another allignment tech today and showed him the current setting of my allignment via printout. he studied the printout and was adamant the current allignment indicates the car should not pull left. He was adamant that TOE does not have anything to do with pulling unless the front and rear are extremely off. He believes my car has ESP sensor and is causing the left pull and the sensor needs to be calibrated. Does the 02 Z06 have such a sensor to force the wheel to do this and is this a common problem after an allignment.
You say the original tires (front ) had excessive inside wear.
That would indicate that there was a lot of toe in so the car would tend to stay straight.
Since your not running with that now, the car will be "squirrelly" (ie all over the place WHOO HOO) when you romp on it.
Also, you might want to try offsetting the other side to compensate for the weight differance or sit in the car on an alignment rack and see if the alignment shifts.
