Default Mile Per Gallon - C4 vs C5

There must be hard data somewhere but I haven't had time to hunt for it. Therefore, does anyone know how the C4's and the C5's compare as far as fuel efficiency?

The 6 speed C4 and C5 will get similar highway mpg's, not sure about the autos.

I don't know about city mileage but a C4 can get highway mileage that is every bit as good as a C5. I drove my dad's 93 6-speed from California to Colorado and the mileage ranged from upper 20s to low 30s.

I had four C4s and two C5s and I always seemed to get slightly better MPG from the C5s. But they were very close.

Can't complain about either one.

We just returned from a vacation from Minot N.D to Ontario Canada and back. With my 2002 z06 i averaged from 27.9 to 31.4 miles per gallon. But not so good driving in Cities at 18 miles per gallon. My friend has a 1991 C4, he said that his car gets 25 to 29 miles per gallon.

Default C4 vs C5

Because of my profession I have lived in a few cities, so I am always on the road................my C4 which I drove daily for for five years at 188,000 miles mostly on the road I would get on an average 23-24 mpg my average speed.....75-85. I usually get about 27-29 in the C5, at the same or slightly higher speeds............my two cents............

My 86 with 4+3 would get 24 mpg at 70 mph in 7th gear. My 97 would get 31 in 6th and my 03Z is currently getting 27 at that speed.

I normaly get 34 with my C-5 but we took it to Savannah this past weekend and it got 29-30 mpg,I think because I used that ethanol fuel.

Back when I had my C4s I was less concerned with MPG but the average on the 1991 auto was around 27. I could cruise 53 MPH and get the instant to read 36 though

The C5 is supercharged and a 6 speed, usually averaging 90% what the DIC shows (bigger injectors, I guess). Straight highway I get about 28 true MPG (DIC show about 31) and mixed I average 23-24.

Driving my dad's 92 auto convert today and I am getting around 20mpg in semi around town driving. Compared to the 22 I was getting doing the same driving in my 01 Z06. My dad's 86 seems to get a little better mileage though I think the 92 is running rich. On the road however the 92 doesn't improve that much and I get 30 out of my 01 Z06.

I had a 90 C4 auto (L89) before getting the C5.

Highway in the C4 was about 26 mpg. The C5 (auto) gets 30-31 mpg.

I just made a ~600 mile round trip this weekend with speeds mostly in the 70-80 m.p.h range in my 02Z. It is mostly stock (Vararam, Corsa Ti exhaust, and a tune). I averaged 28.4 including taking a couple of friends who hadn't seen the car for "spirited" rides. My 87 was an auto so it isn't completely comparable, but it was never quite that good.

The best I ever did in my 6 speed C4 was 29.5, highway, 70mph, top down.

The best, so far in my auto C5, top UP, A/C ON, is 34.9.

These are REAL numbers, no bs and no coasting.

hth someone,

Jim
