Default $1500 to spend

I have a Callaway honker and have $1500 to spend right now. Should i put on an exhaust or some headers? I am currently arguing with my father over which one to do? Any input will help. Thanks.

Interesting post. Virtually identical to one I made earlier this year. Most will recommend Headers, Tune, and if you have an A4, Gears.

My Vette is an A4 and had 2.73 gears. I changed out the carrier and went with 3.42's along with a tune. Spent a little more than $1,500, but oh my, what a difference.

A4 or M6? If it's an A4 what gears? If A4 with 3.15's headers and a tune will do you well.

Between headers and a cat-back, I would pick headers every time. Personally, I would recommend gears. 3.73s if it is an A4 and 4.10s if it is an M6.

If it is an A4 with 2.73's:
-Find a nice used set of headers w/ Xpipe here on the forum
-Find a nice used 3.42 diff. here on the forum
That is what I did, and spent about $1300 total. I will be doing the install with a buddy, so don't have to pay for install.

A4 with 3.15's:
-LT's/Xpipe: New or used

M6:
-LT's/Xpipe: New or used

If you go used on the headers, you can also buy a catback

I would do the dave deckard budget exhaust build, and then still have $600 left over for whatever you want to throw at it... so a tune for $300, and then you still have another $300 to play with.

Headers, Z06 exhaust, gears, and a tune.

Little more than 1500, but man what a difference...
