Great writeups! Of course one of them is mine...

Anyway... Laurence, if you have any questions with the removal that aren't answered in that writeup, feel free to shoot me a PM.

And, regarding the repair... if you choose to do that, I myself followed the 2nd link Patches provided above, and found it to be immensely helpful! I don't recall if the writeup specifies this, but you want a #8 Torx bit for that.

The only other thing I can add, is that when you separate the two halves of the headlight switch, you'll see a big white cog that mates to a black cog connected to the headlight switch **** itself. It is helpful to NOT move the white cog or operate the headlight switch ****, otherwise when you put the switch back together, the gearing will be out of sync with the switch position. (i.e. you might get your headlights to turn on by only selecting "parking lights".) But, if you do move the gear by mistake, apply a little logic and you can figure out the proper position for them to be in.

Last thing... TEST THE FUNCTIONALITY of the new/repaired switch BEFORE fully reinstalling it! Just plug in the two electrical wires and test it... that way, if things still dont work you don't have to re-un-install it all over again.

Another good post on how to repair an area of the C5. Thanks for all the info.

Thanks guys. Sorry it took me so long to thank you. I didn't get a chance until now to get back on the forum.
