I just bought a 98 6speed Coupe this previous weekend. In the past I've never been one to do much of my own work on my car, but I'm very interested in learning this time around. So i guess my question would be what do you recommend for a manual or some literature to get started with? Also, what magazines are there out there and which do you like best?

First of all - welcome! As far as material for servicing the car yourself - I strongly recommend the three volume GM service manual that is model year specific. They can be found used here in the C5 Parts for Sale forum from time to time, and you can find them on that auction site (that's where I found mine). There are no Haynes or Chilton manuals for this car, probably because there is too much information to compile into one small manual.
As far as research on the car, there are a lot of books out there, plus several web sites. Here is one that I find very useful - click here.
I would also recommend ALL CORVETTES ARE RED by James Shefter. It discusses in great detail, how the C5 came to be, and almost didn't come to be.
Of course, this forum has a ton of useful (and some useless) information. I think it's better than any of the Corvette specific magazines available.
Best of luck, and may you have miles and miles of smiles with your Corvette!
