What should I do?
Got my Apsis C5Z06 Splash Guards yesterday and I am on the fence. Not sure if I want to get them painted to match the car or leave them black as an accent to the car. If I get them painted my guy will leave the inside closes to the tire black...
The front one will have to be modified to fit around the ACI Side Skirts and my body guy says he can do it. So I'm looking for opinions on what I should do.. Paint to match car or leave black like a Z06.
Here are some pic's of them being held up to the car, rear only.
I like the black look Wayne, but then you know I would
I think the would look good with your blacked out side marker lights.
Install them black and drive and see what you think, you can always take them off and paint if it just doesnt look right.
Either way its going to look good on your already good looking car

Mine should be here from APSIS tomorrow (of course, I also received an email from APSIS yesterday after they shipped that they were getting reports of fitment issues with the passenger rear and were re-working that corner?).
IMO - if these were actually "molded-in" flares to the body, they would look good the same color as the body, but since they are an obvious bolt on, I think they will look better in the dull black. This also helps mask any minor fitment issues that present over time - if they are the same color as the car and there is any gap or misalignment anywhere it will look like the car is broken.
I have a black car and I am even having concerns painting mine gloss black. I am guessing they will look better with a contrasting black than trying to make them look like they were part of the original base body design. We will see when they arrive.
There is a reason why GM is leaving them dull black on their vehicles, plus ANY paint on the tire side will get hammered even worse than the original body paint. I am also considering putting clear-mask or Line-X on the tire side, but will need to see them in person first. I am also considering putting a layer of hidden clear mask on the mating edges of the guards so they do not scratch up the paint underneath as bad, but will have to see what their final design allows for.
