Is it just me, or do all Soccer Moms and Dads in mini vans hate Corvettes?
The moms tailgate. Not your normal tailgating, they climb up my a$$, and usually while talking to kids or their cell phone. They don't tailgate me in my Silverado with my 10,000# hitch! I don't think it's by accident.
And the Soccer Dads always seem angry and hateful. Militant jeolosy. They pull close in the lanes, pull out in front of me, nasty looks and for the life of me, always want to race off the light with those under-powered grocery gitters. Especially, if their soccer wife is in the car.
Hey, I took my kids to all the games and practices across three states, drove beaters because I had to raise kids, paid my dues, and now it's my payoff time, I finally got my dream car one year ago at 44 years old. I was there too, but I didn't hate Corvettes or their owners while I waited!
Is it just me who gets this constant behavier from soccer parents in mini-vans?
I do think that it's due to todays life style. Soccer...baseball..girl scouts..swim team, their own little world and they're more engrossed in themselves than watching out for others. I find it happens in my other car also. Even the speeders in my neighborhood are young parents not paying attention to what they should . If I get one on my tail I just pull over and let them by. Saves what little gray hair have left
Well it IS hard to see a sleek LOW PROFILE sports car when you are driving with your head up your A$$!!! Mine is pewter,, and sometimes I think it must be invisible!!!
Since everybody has a cellphone now and they feel they have to constantly communicate driving has turned into an exciting new challenge. I am recovering from a month old motorcyclist vs woman on cellphone encounter. She never slowed down. I now have some additional titanium parts in my shoulder. I think drivers in general have gotten worse over the past ten years.
Had a guy in a 325 BMW do the tailgating thing this evening coming back from dinner with the wife. He stuck to my butt as close as he could very aggressively until I finally pulled over and let him by. Then he started tailgating the truck that had been in front of me and started dodging through traffic.

One thing I have noticed about the C5 is that when a car is behind you it looks like they are really close, If you were to get out and look you would see that they are not as close as you might think.

try being a younger guy in the vette then the looks go from bad to the die now stare. I just don't get it at all.

I usually get it from the city slickers with giant chromed out diesel trucks that wont toe anything but groceries and the only off roading is when they accidently go over a curb. Ya know the type im talking about?
I often find that the gentle slow down does the trick. Just drop by a few mph until the problem registers through the spare brain cell that was fully occupied by the cellphone
I completely agree with the poster. I don't understand, but I have a problem with people in minivans and trucks trying to race me.
I have some theories!
Many people driving large vehicles don't seem to pay a lot of attention. I think the size of the vehicle really numbs you to your surroundings. You also feel safer because of the size.
I think a lot of males that are driving mini vans would like to drive my sports car. The next best thing is outrunning it. They probably do it to a lot of other cars, too. They feel like they have something to prove...even if they are driving a mini van.
I'm not sure what it is about trucks. I think a lot of people that drive them like to have a tough image. Some of them have a chip on their shoulder. The problem is, that trucks can't really compete with a sports car, mod for mod. They're just too heavy.
Now that said, there are some people that drive Corvettes like jerks. Messing with other cars, dodging in and out of traffic, just because they can.

I have a lifted Z71 and if a vette that sounds good pulls up next to me ill play a little...I mean come on, who doesn't like the sound of a vette screaming past them?
If I was forced to drive a mini-van I would be p!$$#& off all the time too. But I have noticed the same thing im allways getting tail gated all the time I find tapping the brakes a few times normally backs them off but if that does'nt do the trick than stepping on the brake will!
I think it is a vette / sport car thing. Nearly all minivan drivers seem to be speeding and riding your a$$. Either they dont want to be seen in it or trying to prove they can still drive like idiots. Besides my vette I have an 04 monte carlo and they dont ride my a$$ nearly as bad when im driving it. They still want around but to pass but not as aggresive about doing it. I have a friend with a Mustang Gt and he says they do the same sing to him. I guess if I had to drive a minivan I would be mad that im not driving a sport car but would never try to **** someone off that had one.

Maybe its jealousy ?
I actually have had multiple mini van dads pull up at a light and tell me how bad AZZ my car sounds. I'm 36, but with my hat on might look in my late 20's ? Yea,,,, Im cut a bit short up on top...

My son lives in Montreal (where almost all drivers are crazy) and he says the worst drivers by far are the BMW crowd. They think everyone should get out of their way.
He longs for a Hummer with a rusty 8" I-beam for a rear bumper. Then he'd fix 'em.
