Do you mean it has the Heads up Display? Some people have issues where it drops to where it can't be seen anymore, and requires a fix. I wouldn't shy away from the car because of that though. It still has the other gauges.

^^ I think thats what the OP is talking about Drivers Information Center, directly behind the steering wheel. No true old stlye gauges, I have not heard of many issues w/ that and all C5's have them.
If Bob means the gages, it is an electronic dash in the sense that there is nothing mechanically driven (like directly from the transmission or engine to the dash). All the gages receive variable voltages from the sensors and adjust their values accordingly. But this is besides the point as has been stated, all the dashes are the same.
The correct answer is that almost every make and model of car and truck uses an electronic dash. There haven't been any mechanical/electrical gauges put in cars in many many years. Even the so called analog gauges get digital data across the data link and convert the digital info for needle gauges or in the case of the HUD to a flourescent one.
Bob,
Go for it......
If there is an issue there are very few problems with the C5 that you can't fix yourself with the help of your friends on the forum...
I agree with this. It does sound like he's talking about the C4. I had a 95 and the fuel gauge was in the middle and had the electronic display. Never had any issues with it at all.
Does is look like this:
1995 Corvette
Or like this:
1998 Corvette
The one on the left is the 98 and the Black one is the 95
