My Son's 1999 Corvette gave a warning about his ABS (every time it rains it says he needs to service the ABS and the traction control system.), so he looked up the trouble codes. We did not find anything that related to ABS, but found the following:
C1226 RF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
In layman's language, what does this mean?
could be the wire harness that goes to the wheel speed sensor.
RF ?? right front .the wire goes into the bearing .you should see
the connector .follow the wire back about 1 foot ,there is another connector.give them a look at,and clean them .
if water gets in there it could screw up the signal to the body control
mod.
wheel speed variation.like the pcm thinks this wheel is rotating more/or less than the others.......i think
bottom line these connectors / harnesses do go bad. nitro uk
since you mention this happens when it rains, you may need to check your son's udders (they are at the end of the drain system for the windshield and AC). If they get plugged with leaves or other debris, water can back up into the car.
NITRO is correct.
C1226 is the Left Front wheel speed sensor. I would bet you need to clean and inspect the connections for the sensor. Make sure they are clean and tight. Wheel speed sensors don't fail on C5s very often. However, EVERY C5 has wiring/connection problems. Make sure and clear the code after you check everything, then test drive and report back.
