Went to drive my Z06 tonight (2001) and driver's window will not go down. Appears to be getting power as click is heard when switch button is pushed for up or down. Tried holding button while I shut door firmly and still no luck. Most likely cause? Bad motor? Stuck motor? Bad door module? Window appears to be in proper fully closed position. No codes in computer and would not necessarily expect any. Am I doomed to taking the door apart?
The answer is...
ncvette told me to hold the button down while I pounded the door handle hard with my left fist. It worked!!!! Much kinder than slamming the door shut while holding the button. Same idea but fist pounding worked and slamming did not.
The motor windings get corroded from non-use which will cause it to stop working. Doing as suggested, wrapping on it with the switch in the down position will usually free them up. Happens more often on the passenger side. In rare cases, the relay in the door control module will go bad but as said, its rare. Use those windows more often!
i had the same problem with my passenger door window took the door panel off and removed the speaker to get acess to the window motor tapped it with a hammer and it worked for about a week. So I had a friend change the window relay in the control modual nojoy. So I pulled the window motor cover off cleaned up and lubed everything now it work fine no issues at all. You can do this with out removing the motor out of the door since it is attached to the track assy. just unbolt the motor from the door and let it hang remove the door speaker and rubber access panel and put both arms in there and work on it. takes some time but that should do the trick. Unless it completly burned up then it time for a new window regulator assy. Hope that helps you out some.
