Corvettes are easy. Not bad at all to maintain. If you are a DIY type, the regular duties are actually pretty easy. Oil filter and plug is very easy to get to, most stuff is pretty simple to deal with and not expensive.
There are a few gotchas, like the battery being over the computer and wiring harness. Hint: use only a leak-proof AGM battery and inspect the area before you buy one. Some common stuff goes wrong, but there are a lot of good solutions and parts are available from the Chevy dealer and aftermarket.
GM is definitely cheaper than those. Barely any regular maintenance costs at all. Depending on how they drive the car most people only need to change the oil once per year. Every 15K/ Once per year or when the Oil Life Monitor tells them to. Brakes will last the average driver at least 50K miles. Coolant is every 5 years or 150K miles. Not much else to worry about. Can't get much simpler than that.
BMW covers just about all maintenance now when you buy a new car.
They have to, or risk huge public relations fallout when people realize how unbelievably expensive it can be to maintain their vehicles. Once the second owner has the car, media and the blogs take little note.
BMW is full of sole-source, "proprietary" parts that can only be purchased at a hideous prices through BMW dealerships.
Take the cost of parts and repair and divide it by the thrill of the drive and there is no comparison. While some of the rides you've mentioned are quite well refined, comfortable and reliable, they do NOT hold a candle to the overall thrill and comfort of the C5 Corvette. The total equation is skewed in favor of the Corvette. So quit asking inane questions and join the club.
