I just called my local tire shop that does the Road Force balancing. They quoted me a price of $121.47 incl. tax to balance all 4 wheels. I need to also replace the front TPS with me supplying the parts and they wanted an additional $50.00 to install those. That would put me out the door at close to $175.00
Is their pricing about average or am I about to get hosed?
is this a dealer?
$50 for installing the TPS isn't bad. which should include include balancing those two tires either way since they taking of the tire. the Tire is already removed from the car. so it's no extra work for them.
So you only be paying to balance the 2 addition tires which is about 1/2 labour. I'll add another $20 for whatever bs fees they may have.
I had my Pirelli's mounted and balanced on 19" CCW's, including removing the old tires, for a little less than that at a local "high-end" auto service place.
Are they replacing the tires? If they're already replacing tires, $50 additional for the sensors is ridiculous.
One more note- have you dealt with this shop before? I went through a fiasco last tire change... I went to the usual tire shop I go to and they tried to charge me over double what it cost me before. I wound up going to Pep Boys which was cheaper, but they messed up my rim. Had to pay to get it refinished. F-tards! In the end it was not worth the aggravation.

That's what I paid for a balance and truing. Had the tires shaved to
make sure they're round and then balanced with a load cell and strobe light. The guy would spin each one up and touch the fender and hold the steering wheel and go over everything looking for vibrations.
For what it's worth, the road force balance cost was the same. SA TX.
Hunter Road Force Balance at Goodyear near me: $17.50 each. Normal balance $9.00 each. Hope this helps. Or you can get a lifetime balance for $79.00 which is what I did. I've since had them HRF balance the same tires twice, free of charge.

Well if it includes shaving down the rim, then yea that's a pretty good price. But from what I'm getting- is it's just using the GSP9700 to do a road force balance. To properly do it, they'd need to dismount the tire and rotate the tire on the rim to match the hard spot to the low spot on the rim. Since it sounds like they're NOT going to dismount the tire, it's ridiculously high.
I had a shop here swap four tires onto different wheels and moving all 4 tpms and road force balancing and inflating with nitrogen for a hundred bucks.

Same here. I use a shop that specializes in Corvettes and had 4 new Goodyear EMT's mounted and balanced, 4 new tpms installed (I furnished the new tpms) for $100. That was 2 weeks ago.
Thanks for all the replies. I did some checking around the Savannah area. The new GY store in Pooler $11/wheel balancing (no HRF option) but they still wanted $41/wheel to replace the TPS with me furnishing the parts.
I called Discount Tire in N. Jacksonville and they quoted HRF @ $25.00/wheel with no charge for the TPS change or $13.99 balance + $5.00/TPS change. They said they would check the need for the HRF with Hunter machine and only do the Road Force balance if it proved necessary. Jax is about a 2 hour drive each way but it still makes sense to use them with the savings. I actually bought GY Eagle F1 All Season's for my wife's Crossfire and saved over a $100/tire compared to my best deal in Savannah. BTW, that GY F1 All Season is an awesome tire, will be my next set for the Vette when I need them.
I replaced the wagon wheels on my 99 FRC with new in box factory magnesium wheels and bought the tires at our local tire store that most of our club members use. Cost for mounting with no touch equipment, road force balance and no tax was NOTHING, NADA, ZILITCH. I didn't replace the tire pressure monitors, they are still in the wagon wheels.
There's only one shop in my area that I trust with my custom wheels, and also has a Hunter road froce balancer. They've charged me $150 to dis-mount, re-mount and road force balance 4 tires. That seems a bit high, compared to what some are quoting here, but the work is done right the first time, and I've never had a problem with scuffs or scratches on my wheels.
I wanted a road force balance to check a problem I thought was in the wheel and not getting fixed elsewhere on another vehicle...Discount Tire charged me $25.00 a wheel...$100 even...they found a "normal" spin balanced wheel was balanced improperly...(the day before)
Bill
Thats high if they are just using a roadforce machine to check force and balance. If they are going to match mount to limit roadforce, and then balance that sounds about right
