Default Seat issues

I have seen previous posts refering to "rocking seats". Not sure what that refers to but my driver seat has movement when I accelerate or push back on it. Feels like it slips a notch on a cog or something. Any experience with this? Also, while the seat will move back and forth okay, my power lumbars and the up and down switches don't get any results. I can't believe that all three switches went bad. Are these all on the same motor? Anyone know what to look for?
Thanks,
Carl

Thanks..got it. More work than I thought, but I can handle it. I move from a C3 to a C5 so I could spend more time driving than working on them, but I don't have too many issues with it so far.

You'll have it done in a couple of hours.

Thanks guys. I followed all the tech instructions and spent 3 hours last night adding the nylon washers. The rubber inserts did not appear to be in bad shape, but I changed them anyway. Got it all back together after swearing at the T-40 hex bolt for quite some time and still have a rocking seat. I guess that I need to look elsewhere for my problem. The good thing is that I got to clean areas that I could not reach otherwise and I found 2 quarters under the seat. So I made .17 cent per hour for my work.

I just went out and did a closer look at the problem. My seat base does not move. When I put backward force on the seat, the seat back seems to slip back a notch. There is an audible clunk. When I move forward it comes back. I apparently have an issue with the hinged area between the back and seat. Anyone else had this?
On another seat issue, my power seat moves front to back okay but the up-down switch and the lumbars do not work. However, when you hit the Memory 2 button, the seat does move up to a higher setting based on a previous program. Would that not indicate that the motors are okay but the switches are bad? Looking at the CA catalog I only see one seat switch listed. Is it one complete switch assembly that would have to be purchased?
Thanks,
Carl

OP: When you had the seats out did you take the chance to pull apart the switch area and clean them up? It'd also be a great time to take a look at the reclining handles, take them off and inspect the gears/stops that seem to be slipping when you accelerate..

I did not pull the switches apart as darkness was closing in on me due to the 29 combinations of wrenches I had to try to get the T-40 bolt out of the frame. Wanted seat back in car to drive today. I will get those apart this weekend. I am hoping there is a way to make certain the switches are bad before spending $120 for new ones. If I can get them apart I will put on ohm meter on them, but often these are sealed units. And yes, I was thinking reclining handles may be my problem on the rocking. Wish I had checked them first but in retrospect, I should never have the rocking seat problem others were having.
Thanks,
Carl

the seat height front and rear tilt are operated by plastic yokes on the motors to the adjusters, those plastic yokes do occasionally break making one or more of the adjustments inoperable.

Yes, there is a simple fix for this, but can't remember it off-hand, did you check the DIY thread? I thought it involved something like leaning the back of the seat totally forward to reset the recline mechanism but not positive.

I have a very slight movement/slip on my drivers seat, and that is with the new Caravagio's that are on the original tracks, is that also probably the rocking seat issue you think. I don't mean to jump in on the OP's thread, that is great that you have the resources to do things yourself, and keep us informed of if you get to the core of the problem. I will be watching the thread.

Okay..I found my problem and corrected it this weekend. It a little long for this, so I am posting it on Tech/Performance today. Please go there as this may be your problem also

I have a issue with the passenger seat making a clicking sound when I go around a corner with a passenger. Is this part of this same rocking problem or something else?

Not familiar with that one. Mine was more of a clunk and distinctive movement front and back. If your passenger is feeling movement it could be one of the two issues we are encountering. Check my post on tech/performance.

When I got the seat off, I found that a connector had been unplugged that controls the lumbars. I plugged it together and they now work except the motor just keeps on running. I now suspect an air leak to the lumbars and the compressor just keeps trying to fill the bladder. I have new seat covers ordered and will get a closer look when I install them. Thanks for the help..
