What would you say is the average price to install four shocks onto a C5 if you furnish the shocks? In other words, what would be a reasonable labor charge for doing this? Am in Southwestern part of U.S.
I just did mine today following the instructions on the link. Couple of things I noted is that the passenger side rear is a little harder to remove, you will need to compress it a little bit to remove it, plus if you have time to remove the rear tie rod connection -do it, it'll probably make the job easier, plus you don't have to use the wire ties, I used chicken wire or laundry wire or hanger wires not sure what they're called -did the job for me. But anyway, for a non professional like me. It took me about 4 1/2 hrs total on jacks from setting the tools, lifting the car and basically cleaning up after install. So for a professional with lifts, it's most likely maybe an 1 1/2 hr to 2 hr job that's why dealers are charging you about $250 because labor now cost between $100 to $150 an hour in the dealership. Save yourself some money and do it yourself.
This forum is the best for information and advice from folks who know. I looked at the install pics and it seems like a good opportunity to try. And I always look for ways to save money! You guys are awesome.
Southwest? Well in San Diego shop labor rates are in the $100 dollar an hour range. But if you go just a little bit more south you're in the 100 Pesos per hour range.

Appreciate your reponses.
What type of shocks are you going to be putting in anyway. I got a used C6 Z51 shocks to replace my basic FE1 shocks. As you can see in the pic -I don't have to tell you that there will be a huge difference in ride. Because the FE1 shocks ( top) is way thinner compared to the more thicker/meatier C6 Z51 shocks (bottom) that I installed. Ride wise - better ride/better feel of the road
Great link. Very easy to follow but I have one serious problem with this procedure. In the 2-3 hours this takes, doesn't your beer get warm sitting there on the pavement? I would have to add a cooler to this process.
A cooler would do wonders in 100 degree heat like we have here. I also thought the procedures were really outlined well in the link. I got some Z06 shocks and slverc5 is right, they are bulkier. Should ride a whole lot better. Thanks again everyone. You guys are something else.
