Default Practical Tire Knowledge Needed!!

I just purchased Goodyear F1 All season tires for my 98 C5. Each one took 3 to 31/2 oz of lead to balance out. I know its not my wheels because the last set of tires used much less weight,(and they were run-flats). The Sales people told me this is normal . To me it seems excessive. Will someone please shed some light on this subject, its driving me CRAZY!!!!

I'd have em give the tires a quarter turn on the wheels and try it again. I don't think that's normal, IMHO

Default tires

We tried that at the tire store on two of the wheels. The results were no better. In fact on one wheel it got worse....4 oz of lead. The best we did was 3 1/4 on the outside and 3/4 oz on the inside.

I think, as long as its balanced out you should be alright.. I usually watch them to make sure the machine balance out to zero...

I would make sure that if these tires were not Road Force balanced that you have that done. Using that much weight is not right, especially on a supposedly premium tire like Goodyear.

Road Force balancing should indicate the problem, making it simple for the shop to correct the issue.

Default tires

The scary part of this is the tire store said they use this much weight all the time. And they think it is NORMAL ,My guess is most people dont even know ,or could care less, as long as the ROAD HAZZERD Policy is purchased. .......I wonder what Goodyears limit on balancing weight is.
