Curious to hear everyone's impressions on the overal reliability of this car. I've had mine for 3 years now and haven't had a single problem, so I can't complain! Than again I only have 38k miles on it. Would especially like to hear from people who may have higher mileage cars...
Mine has been pretty good except for a tranny issue. I lost 3rd gear, and my 3/4 slider assembly, also had to replace the synchros. This happened at 40k. Did the work myself . It had been going for awhile and I had to take it to the drag strip. Mistake, but it did give me a change to upgrade the internals of the tranny!
2003 with 25k miles I have only had the Column Lock(Got the Bypass) on me and the EBCM crap out(warranty covered). The only thing that is bugging me is that I get the "pull key for 10 secs." message all the time. I need to get that fixed...
83k miles on my 01. Water leak in the right passenger area easily fixed. Belts hoses plugs and wires at 72k miles. Change the oil at 10% and the tranny and rear diff every third oil change...tires now have 17k miles on them with plenty of wear left. Car has had toe rod ends and front brake pads replaced. Will soon need tie rod ends and a front end alignment, the HVAC display needs re soldered and oil press sending unit died at 80k.
Oh and did the column lock fix and the CAGS bypass which failed after 5k miles. Was fixed with a 20 cent resistor from Radio Shack though.
2001 Z06, with 116,000 miles.
2003 Mercury Marauder, with 243,000 miles.
1999 Mustang GT, with 127,000 miles.
1994 Full Size Chevy Blazer, with 167,000 miles
Recently sold 1994 F150 Lightning, with 199,000 miles.
Also sold 1997 Grand Prix GTP (w/supercharger), with 189,000 miles.
All have displayed little or no durability, reliability, or longevity problems. Then again, I am the ONLY person that maintains, performs modifications, or any other mechanical/electrical related servicing on them. Not that I am 'King Ding-a-ling' of auto mechanics, rather I am reflecting on the often realized outcome of letting SOMEONE ELSE work on something that does NOT belong to that SOMEONE ELSE.
