I have a buddy in my Corvette club with wiper problems. Here is his issue:
Any one with a C5 having/had problems with their wipers? Mine have become haunted recently, work when they are off, only work at the high speed setting, don't settle on to the rest under the cowl, etc. Any suggestions, I think maybe replacing the control stalk on the steering column is the answer but don't know. Also, any place other than a dealer to do the work?
Several folks have had problems like you describe - the most common source seems to be that the drain system for the windshield gets plugged, causing water to invade the wiper motor and control circuitry. What we normally advise is for you to clean the drain system (the part that gets clogged is at the end of the system, we call them the udders) then let things dry out a bit. If the problem persists after that then parts replacements may be necessary. Search on udders and find a post from Bill Curley that steps you through cleaning the udders.
