Default Windshields..

Ok..Im on a quest..

If anyone..coupe or Z06 has had a AP Tech model DW1430 installed lately, can you post the text , called the 'Bug", that's on the lower passenger side corner.

I believe that this is considered a "Non Hud" windshield BUT...its rated fo HUD's anyway...the bug holds the information.

OK..the definitive word.....

I went thru SafeLite here in San Diego and had my windshield replaced...they were really helpful..I highlily recomentd them

Heres the deal. They brought out a APTech (OEM Mfg) DW1430 winshield and and an APTech DW1514

Both had the same bugs in the corners, which included the HUD designation, sun shade etc....

The DW1514 cost 900 bucks the DW1430..cost 400 bucks!

Guess which one I went with....

That's excellent, I think last week I was reading someplace where a Vette windshield replacement for HUD could run $12-15 hundred dollars. Thanks for sharing.

I have had my 2001 Coupe WIndshield replaced 3 times (really 5 times since the first time they had to try 3 windshields before finally giving up and installing an actual GM source HUD replacement after trying two Mexican Glass "HUD-Rated" knock-offs to save a buck). A non-HUD windshield will still reflect an image, but it may be fussy and/or distorted. On the first two they tried (the first time) it was like you were seeing double - instant headache - and they were supposedly HUD-rated. They finally gave up and ordered one through the Chevy Dealership (about twice the price to them) and it worked great. Mine have always been replace under Comprehensive and only cost me $200 each.

Here is the info on my windshield from replacement a year ago - this one works fine.
