I did a search on this but couldnt find a definitive answer after reading about 20 pages of issues and possible fixes... so here is my problem.
I have been in Iraq for a year and a half and my brother-in-law has been taking care of the car for me. I picked the car up in GA and it had no issues what so ever. I finally get it to Texas (towed) and noticed that when I brake the car is pulling slightly to the right. So I was doing some spirited driving Friday afternoon and come up on a curve I need to slow down for. Well... I hit the brake pedal and it went to the floor and vibrated and the car started to sway and the brakes were intermittently locking up individually. I looked at the dash and it said "Service Active Handling". I went over the whole car and cant figure out what it could be. Has anyone here have this issue? Also, my speedo now bobbles about give or take 5 mph at any given minute.
I have disconnected the battery to see if it would reset any bugs and fix itself and that didnt work. I have run out of solutions. HELP!!!!
It sounds to me as though you have brake issues. If the EBCM senses that the braking is not symmetrical it will flip in the AH. I suspect what you're seeing is a symptom rather than the cause.
I'd check out the brakes for correct operation before I dug into the AH side.
I could be totally wrong though
If you have an AH problem it will be throwing codes. Can you check them out and post them up.
I will look and see what codes are there if any and get back with you. I was figuring it was the brakes also so i ordered new rotors from Brake Solutions and getting Ceramic pads. I will also bleed the entire system when I do the swap.

I believe that you're going to solve your problem when you bleed your system.

Just a thought but if the car has sat for an extended period of
time you may want to purge rather than bleed the system. Brake
fluid is a water/moisture magnet and new fluid from end to end
is probably a good idea.

The VSES activations generally occur during aggressive driving, in the turns or bumpy roads without much use of the accelerator pedal. When braking during VSES activation, the brake pedal will feel different than the ABS pedal pulsation. The brake pedal pulsates at a higher frequency during VSES activation.
During this type of operation the wheels will individually lock and unlock as the system attempts to yaw the car in the direction you are turning the steering wheel. It can get quite violent (feels like the car got hit by something big) in an understeer situation at 40 to 60 mph when the system applies the rear inboard brake to yaw the car more.
I looked at the dash and it said "Service Active Handling".
Indicates a problem detected by the EBCM which has nothing to do with the base brake system.

Not related to anything with the brake system. Signal comes from the PCM which gets an input from the vehicle speed sensor on the tranny.
More than likely purging the brake fluid isn't going to fix this problem (although purging is a good thing to do after the car sat for so long). Changing rotors and pads will not impact anything either.
Just wanted to fill you guys in about the problem I was having in case anyone searches and needs an answer.
My car was pulling to the right and when I hit the brakes.. it pulled HARD to the right. Well.. I inspected the brakes and nothing wrong there. So I took it to an alingment shop to have the stering problem fixed. The alignment went well and as soon as I got back in the car there was no more pull and the brake dive was GONE!
The problem was the alingment. The people that did it for me in GA evidentally didnt tighen up the adjustments they made and they had come loose. I guess the Service Active Handling Soon light was because it was throwing everything out of wack and didnt know what to dol. No more soft pedal, the ABS activates when its suppose to and everything is back to dandy! All I have to do now is fix the tire speed sensor thats throwing my speedo off a bit.

Welcome back, Soldier!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just PCSed from Fort Hood to Edgewood Arsenal, MD. (lived in Copperas Cove)
Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about anymore
you missed something [no pun] alignment issues DO NOT make brake pedal go to floor
Actually, yes it does! The active handling and the ABS is all tied in and because the alignment is out of line... particularly the one side only... it made the computer throw a fit and the ABS went with it.
