Vish, I've had it on my coupe for 4 years. I would recommend it without hesitation. I would also recommend a professional install. Here is a pic of my coupe with the 3M installed.
Had Mine done on my 2000 vert just 2 months ago!
Money well spent and I had mine done Professionally in the Chevy Dealers showroom.
Just make sure it is a quality product.
I had the 3M Clear Bra installed on my wife's new Pilot and I am not 100% fully satisfied. I had it professionally installed by a company that the local Infiniti and BMW dealers use and I really liked it at first. It was/is pretty hard to notice unless you know to look, BUT there are a few things that I do not like. First, there are areas that look stretched and others that have an orange peel look. And my number one complaint is it suceptible to scratching. It seems to take small rock and bug hits without any problems yet it scratched twice when I washed some bugs off. So, I don't know that I would buy it again.
This is just a vent, but what really pisses me off is I dropped the Pilot off with 72 miles on it all waxed and gleaming. I got a call the next day and they asked me if it had damage on the bumper when I dropped it off. Well, no it was in perfect condition when I dropped it off. I go over to see what they are talking about and it has grass clippings and dirt all over it. THEN I notice the bumper has several scratches where the lawn crew hit it with a mower. So the freaking irony of it all is I take it there so the bumper will stay in prestine condition only to have it get F&$#@D up!
They ended up getting it fixed but it still really burns me up and that was over a year ago.
Anyway, my advice is to take a look at a daily driven vehicle that has had it one for a year or so and see how it looks.
I've had one ever since I bought my 02 convertible 2 years ago. I also got it down my rockers all the way to the back cuz I didn't want rock chips and thought mudflaps looked gay. I love it and I got a little oil or road tar on it and had a tough time getting it off so I went back to the company and they gave me some 3M solvent spray which you spray on and wash off. I sprayed it on and watched it dissolve the tar right away. A little scrubbing with a sponge to get the little bits in the air holes and it looks good as new. I highly recommend getting the solvent as it makes cleaning even the bugs off it very easy.
I also took a small rock in my hood at 162mph and it didn't damage the paint. Very tough and invisible stuff, I would never own a nice car without it. Plus your paint doesn't fade like if you have a colored bra on.
In regards to the 3M bra be careful on what generation you purchase!
There have been problems with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation bra's as far as spider cracks and separation. Be sure to get the 4th generation bra
I spend a lot of time making sure my paint looks it’s best so I'm not a fan. They make the nose look a different color and they also make the paint look like it has orange peal. They cost the same as it cost to repaint you nose so that’s what I will do when it needs it.
Just don’t tailgate and if you go to the track then use some blue masking tape and tape the nose up.
I'm having my car done on Thursday... will post up some pics. Want to protect the new paint. Learned the hard way over the past 5 years and 80,000 miles that C5s rocker panels are very prone to getting blasted.

It depends on the brand... some have a slight tint and will show. 3M ultrashield is truly clear w/o tint. Plus... for those of us with certain colors, simply re-painting is a risky move as far as color match. Your car is black so it's simple.
Clear bra looks good on White , silver color.
Black, red or any dark color will show Orange peel look....
I try one to install on the head light cove....look good on one side ( clear and allmost invisible) but the other side has orange peel look .
My white 02 received the complete 3M kit by professional installation when purchased in Texas. It has 18K miles, garaged 99% of the time, and is a weekend toy. Though I've had no rock chips, the product is turning slightly yellow, and lifting a bit along a few edges resulting in unsightly black lines. Since it costs about $1,000 installed, I wouldn't do it again.

Anyone has black, dark red color with clear bra?
Yes, mine is on Black (you can see photos in the link provided in previous post). Up close you can tell the difference if you look real close and are looking for it. It does not have nearly as much orange peel as the stock paint job and by the time you Zaino it, it is very hard to notice.
I have not had one person mention it and every person I have pointed it out to always says "Where... I don't see anything... (then after walking around the front and moving their head up and down) oh, there it is, I would have never noticed that" - some still cannot see it. I did not use it on the hood as I figured that would stand out since it does not cover the entire hood - so I am risking that again (after having had the hood repainted twice already from rock chips).
In a parking lot or driving down the street nobody would ever notice. I would not use it on a Show Car, but on a DD I cannot imagine not using it now.
I have it on my black 1999 Acura and I think it has been there since new. I bought it used in 2003. I am not that pleased with it for a couple of major reasons: Over time, it loses its shine and there's no way to get it back. Also, it scratches very easy. Even something such as a large bug leaves a permanent mark. Others have mentioned the stretch marks an orange peel. Mine has both.
I am making it sound horrible, but its really not that bad. Perhaps on a lighter colored car it would be better. I would not put it on my Corvette.
I have one on my white 04 and it is slightly dis-colored but is probably only noticable by me. It definitely keeps rock chips and such from damaging the paint.
