I'm just curious if anyone has modified their headlights to not come up all the way but to only come up a few inches to give it somewhat of an aggressive look but at the same time still provide a good amount of light on the road? I think i've seen some eagle talon owners somewhere do this mod on their headlights and it didn't look to bad at all. Just curious if it's been done and if there's any pictures!

Its been discussed before but it has two problems. First is that the C5 headlights are mraginal performance at best and limiting them through a smaller opening is dangerous. Second is that with the bucket only part way open the angle of the light would be way off, adding to the poor performance problem.
If you never leave the city you're probably okay but it gets pretty dark out in the countryside in MI so be careful.
use the manual adjuster to move the headlights to the desired position then unplug the motor. splice the wires back together for just the headlights so the bulbs still work. this way the headlights no longer move.
or, remove one of the headlight housings so you can see the mechanism for how the light goes up and down. there are two stops which determine how far the headlight travels. insert a block of wood or some other small but rigid obstacle in front of the open stop so that the headlight motor will not travel as far before reaching the stop. this way the headlight doors still work but they don't open all the way.
either way you are going to be aiming the headlight beam much farther downward than its intended which will weaken your night lighting. if you have stock headlights then you're already driving on dangerously dim lights, this will make it worse. your high beams will not be able to shine down teh road very far at all. I would't recommend it without some kind of a custom built headlight lens designed to project the right light in teh right direction without being fully opened. I've seen a car that had this done to it once...I thought it looked awful.
Hmmmmm.... Didn't GM use some short headlight bulbs back in the 80s that looked a bit like that (on the black Vette's half-open lights)? The Olds comes to mind.... Could be a cheap mod...... Hmmmmm
Yeah I'm already putting HID's in the headlight housings.... just wondering what it would look like if it were to only come up about half way rather then completely popped up.
Not to be a jerk or whatever, but Im on my 3rd Vette, a C3, C4 and now my fave the C5, and all have had the TRADITIONAL popup headlites. Now dont get me wrong, I believe in to each their own, but it seems that not a day goes by that there isnt a post about the headlites and how people want to change them to non popups or "sleepy eyes" or?? If I truly was bothered by the popups, Id save up for a C6..... just my .02
I think the point is no one wants something that blends in with the crowd. Thats why people change their rims, paint, tail light mods, interior mods... I love the c5 don't get me wrong... but I just want to try and make it look a little more aggressive without trying to pickup a c6 to achieve that.
Point taken, I agree with what you are saying, and most mods enhance the cars appearance, I simply dont think the headlight mods do imo
I mean those, what are they, DEPO lights? I was drivin down the freeway the other day and a Vette passes by heading other direction and those lights! they stick up like lil pimples on the hood!
ok Ill stop bitchin sorry to those with the frog eyes

I think it's gay. Sorry, buy a nissan 240sx and hang out with some kids in a parking lot if you like that look. I do realize some american cars are getting into the drift scene, but come on...

It might work great if you could get some low profile rectangular HIDs. I did a search and found air craft landing lights! Now that oughta light up your path!
