[QUOTE=20Zo604;1566647408]Aparently driving the Z06 through what looked like a few inches of moving water, turned out to be me attempting to cross the goddamn Mississipi.
Ha ha just kiddin but did someone say that insurance covers this? can someone explain?
As Chicago1 stated-check with your insurance company. A guy in our club did the same thing with his Z and the insurance company paid for it. Of course he took off the forced air intake first and put back the stock set up. Worth a call.
Ouch! I was thinking of one of these, and just about bought one from another forum member. The risk of water entering the intake is the only thing that held me back. Strike that mod off my list.
i had a buddy spin out on the freeway in the rain, hit a guard rail. he threw a rod a week later and added it to the original claim.. got a new engine and new body work
What additional parts are needed to make a crate LS3 work in a C5. I'm not sure how complete a crate engine is.
I know there's something about a reductor wheel, but how about misc parts?
im not sure either. ill find out from whatever vendor i decide to order it from. so far the LS3 stroker 418 is getting my vote. although the LS7 would be sweet also im just not sure it will be affordable.
I did that in a 2003 Silverado... snapped 2 connecting rods clean in half. DAMN THING STILL RAN! Those 5.3's are tough little SOB's.

No, don't... I have one and regret it. I really wish I paid the extra $500 and went for the 402, you have so many more options for heads with a 4.00" bore.
I recently drove downtown after it had rained and sucked in some water. I snapped a connecting rod. Insurance paid me 9700 before deductible. I bought an ls6 crate longblock from crateenginedepot.com for 3580 shipped. I still had money left over to do a fast intake,ls2 TB, Headers, new seat covers and foam, and LG street headers. First things first, figure out your budget and go as big as you think you need. An ls6 is plenty power for my daily driver. That is my $.02
