Just go and try one on for the fit - its about the only way you are going to know for sure whether you will be comfortable in the car.
Randy,
Welcome! As mentioned above, the only way you'll really be able to tell if the C5 is right for you is to try it out. My wife, who suffers from Fibromyalgia, is in constant pain. We had no choice but to try out a C5 before we took the plunge. She had no problems and is very comfortable in the car. The seats are first-rate, supportive, and can be adjusted to accommodate just about any driving style you desire.
Best of luck and if you're successful in your search (and I think you will be), enjoy!
An ex-neighbor and friend of mine retired last year. He bought an 86 C4 after I bought my 01. He is at least 6'5" and the girth of a bear. After sitting in my 01, he decided to sell his C4 and buy a 2000, because it was much more spacious and comfortable.
I am 6.2" and at one point weighed near 400.
At that time I drove a fiero and a C4 with no problems.
I had people ask me how I got it and I always laughed and told them there was really more room in them than people thought.
I was more comfortable in those 2 cars than my 57 ford or my 96 Tbird.
I am now down to around 300 and fit in my C5 very well.
You will have no problems at all.
I'm 6'5" and between 260 and 270 and my C5 is very comfortable. I do think it's true there is less room on the passenger side for some reason. I don't seem to fit so well over there. Plus it just isn't my favorite position. Gimme the wheel!!
There is an "art" to getting in and out though without tearing the bolster. Note the little "ledge" in the door frame just below the latch. Perfect place to put your hand to lift yourself in and out.
