Default DIY AIR setup removal?

I have been looking for a while on removing the whole AIR system, and just wondering if there was any thread detailing how to completely remove it, what it actually does (cold engine start up is all i know, is it bad to remove?) and when not to remove it.

Any hand?

Hmm, you don't know what it does and really don't have a good reason to remove it

hahahaha i know vaguely what it does and a lot of the guys take it off. so, thats good enough for me, i just want some projects to love my baby and have been looking at this for a long time. in FL we dont have inspections so, freeing up some weight and space in the engine would be helpful.

A short explanation:

Air injection reaction system
(AIR system) The AIR system helps to reduce hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide levels in the exhaust by injecting air into the exhaust ports of each cylinder during cold engine operation, or directly into the catalytic converter during normal operation. It also helps the catalytic converter to reach proper operating temperature quickly during warm-up. If a GM cars has an air pump, the system is an AIR otherwise it is a PULSAIR system.

Ive been running w/o mine for a few years now. I blew an AIR tube off my drivers side header at VIR and decided to get Kooks race headers w/o air fittings and deleted the system.

Much cleaner under the hood and plug swaps are easier. No negative effects.

right the main reason I am looking into this is contemplating some TSP headers (and i just changed my plugs so i knwo that side of it hahah)

How do you remove the system completely, and I guess I would just make some block offs for the stock manifolds. Is there any cpu tuning required to stop all teh codes that i would assume come up?

Remove the air pump from the left front bumpre area through the close out panel, remove the alines, remove the intake manifold to get to one of the back bolts, get block-off plates from a place like thunder racing or get headers w/o AIR (like mine), then have the codes tuned out.

^ I just wrapped the plug end in electrical tape, capped the vaccum lines, and zip tied it out of the way.

You'll have to get the code tuned out too. 0406 I believe.

If you don't have the primary and secondary air injection systems turned off(tuned out) you will throw those codes.

yeah thats what i figured... i guess this is more than i thought to do without headers at the same time.

hmmm... ok, thanks for all the input guys.

So just for educational purposes, removing the pump and then the hoses connected to it is the whole system?
