Is it true Z06`s do not come with those (should be 3) compartment covers. If so ,ssshhheeesh what would there combined weight be Vs. having 'open holes' there? I have been meaning to look but keep forgetting when I do see a C5Z06. I think I would have to buy the covers if they did not come OEM.

Thanks,

So your saying you actually "use" the "car"?! ME TOO! Except we don't see alot of snow here in West Texas, but it gets drivin in the rain! But we really don't see that much rain either. Hmmm, maybe I don't really "use" mine that much then! But if I had too......!

Yep, mine is my daily driver all year round! I bought it to drive it! I just can't imagine how boring winter would be if I was driving nothing but an econobox the entire time! When we get the deeper snowfalls my mom always phones me up and offers me her VW Golf for a few days, and even just being without my Vette for a day or two and I'm going

Good for you!! While mine is not an "official" DD it's close to it!!Fortunately my snow problem is not as bad as yours is but that is about the only time mine stays put! Much to the horror of some mine has gotten wet many times,as a matter of fact just got some of the new 1 piece wiper blades and they work great!! NO it hasn't melted yet!!

Never really thought about any excess weight in the car. If I did, I would have gone on a diet a long time ago.

I'm in the process of adding about 100 lbs to my car.

On purpose.

You are not alone in obsessing about the weight. Read about Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus. His philosophy was to make race cars as light as possible to the extreme. He'd build a car, then start taking things off until it broke -- then put that part back!

I won`t even carry the Club in the car, to heavy. I hate giving 'fast' rides with an adult in the Vette and usually say, "you should try this at night, alone with a 1/4 tank of gas", which of course is true, it will seem/be much faster. Z06 use`s thinner glass and as I understand it, the C5 storage compartments come OEM with no covers. I hear the Engineers are obssesed with every ounce if weight, so I know its not just me, hyper sensative about weight, you ?

I also don`t like my Vette to be called a "car". IMO, it deserves to be called a " Vette", as in the one and only.
i know what your talking about. i do the same, never more than a half tank of gas and nothing but me in the vette. when ever i try give one of my friends that impressive ride i give my self and if they weigh more than 135lbs, the vette just does not react aswell as it does when i have a passenger with less than 135 lbs.

I guess I am fortunate to not have such finely tuned sensitivities (and/or I am not pressing the edges of the performance envelope) so that I don't worry about whether I have a full tank or a passenger. I just enjoy it whether alone or with a passenger and my only concern about the gas is having enough high quality gas to get where I am going and back.

I don't know the weight limit but I'm sure we're close.
Ya know, I was gonna say 400 lbs maximum for cargo and passengers, but I cant seem to find the stat.
