What else would you use? I use the K&N Kit on my Blackwing with no issues; just don't soak the filter with the oil after you clean it. Just enough oil to turn the cotton pink, not dripping.

K&N is cotton gauze. The Blackwing is a synthetic media. The Blackwing cost you what...maybe $150 used to $259 new? The correct cleaning kit costs $15.95.
It's your car to do with as you please...
And synthetic media should be even less prone to breakdown by an organic substance (oil)- use your pink media- noone can see it and besides only real men can wear pink- don't waste your money.
