Default Air Conditioner Problem

The air conditioner on my 98 starting blowing warm last week. I checked the pressure on the low side and high side and they are both in the danger zone. I am thinking there is a blockage somewhere. Where is the orfice tube located?:confused

Not sure what you mean by "in the danger zone". What were the specific pressures you saw at 2k rpm and at what ambient temp/humidity?

Orifice tube is located in a single bolt connector just below the low side test port but I wouldn't open it just yet.

Just my $.02, but I think AC is an area where if you really don't know what you're doing, it's probably best to take it to a trusted mechanic for repair. I'd rather have the peace of mind (and warranty) of knowing that it's done right than have the worry that I might be making things worse.

My 99 had lost its cool this summer and I just took it in today. A new schrader valve to fix a leak, a purge of the old refrigerant, a fiillup of new refrigerant (plus dye to detect any future leaks, if there are any), and out the door for $180. And an ice-cold ride home. Well worth it.

Again, that's just my humble opinion.
