I've been using the BMW pucks for 4 years, you just snap them in and they stay in. You don't have to remove them like the aluminum ones because they only stick down about 3/4", and once you snap them in they won't fall out when you drive, as I said mine have been in for 4 years. Plus they're cheaper than the aluminum ones, $28 as opposed to about $50. Here a link to a thread where you can get all the info, go to the second page, it's got the part number and a link to bavarian auto where you can buy them. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...king+pucks+bmw

if you're going to be continually using the pucks then go with the high dollar units, they might hold up better. but for occassional use the inexpensive hockey pucks will last you a life time. in the last year I've used my "cheapies" maybe ten times and they show no wear. put the difference in price in some other mod.
I bought pucks because of the comments here at the forum. However, when I went to get a tire fixed at Discount tire, they laughed. They never use them. I offered to get them out so that they could jack up the car and they insisted on not using them. At any rate, they jacked the car up, and fixed the tire for free. No problem, no damage. So it seems that the jack pucks are yet another corvette dump @ss cost. A lot of hype to sell yet another useless item. I'm sure that they are nice to use, but not a necessity.

Discount tire did mine that way too, however that was before I had bought a set of the EE aluminum ones. They didn't do any damage, but I'm curious that they preferred you didn't use them. So what happens when they cause damage, yeah they are out a few bucks but your car has been damaged and then repaired. So I wonder then is their lift different, or their method... I wonder what it is that they don't want to use them. What would have happened if you stuck them in while in the parking spot before pulling it in to the bay?

I guess if they break your car, they are responible. It's seems that they really are responible if you point out the potential problem. I don't know why they did not want to use them. They said they lift vettes all of the time and I guess they don't want to confuss the guys with different methods of lifting. I have to give Discount tire credit. I have used them for years. They fix flats for free, even if you did not buy the tires from them. They do good work and I've never had a problem with them. Truely a good company to do business with. I guess you could find someone a little cheaper, but why? When I need to replace my tires, they will get my business. I only have to figure out which tires I want. And that is a hard thing to do with all of the hype about this tire and that. I think I'm down to either the original tires again, or Michelins A/S run flats for the noise and mileage. The GYs do work great, and when I got two nails in one and went all the way to zero psi, I was still able to drive to Discount tire to get it repaired. I got there just before closing on a friday evening! They fixed it with no pucks and no charge.

I second that. had mine for less than a year. They work great. Used them over the weekend changing oil. Put them in and forget about em.

I'm afraid had I requested they use the pucks and they laughed and refused I would take my business elsewhere.
Elite Engineering makes some great aluminum pucks. Or you can go to the BMW dealer and get a set that works well too.
If it were me, I'd get 4 of them - you never know when the car will need to be put on a lift.
I bought the EE's as well. When I needed the tires replaced on my '03, I raised the car up on jack stands and took the wheels to the tire dealers. The trick was the jack I was using wasn't quite low enough, so I had to drive one wheel up on a 2x6 board!
When I took my '03 to the dealership to have the rear end leak checked, I showed the mechanic mine to use, but he said he had a set he usually used. See? Sometimes even the dealership mechanics care about the Corvettes as much as we do!
i BOUGHT MINE SOMEWHERE ON EBAY. BLACK HI-TECK PLASTIC ONES THAT YOU JUST SNAP IN AND LEAVE THEM IN PLACE. THEY WORK GREAT. PRICE WAS ABOUT $28.00 PLUS SHIPPING.
