Funny thing, I turned my car off tonight , the lights went down but one of my headlight motors started making a weird noise for like 5 seconds...only when it goes down....it seems like the motor continues to try and spin with the headlight down...can anyone help?? Now it does it every time it goes down
When you take it apart you will see where it has stripped the gear,It only uses about a third of the gear, just rotate it and put it back in Good to go!!!

Why go to the trouble of taking it apart, if you aren't going to fix it right? Dickman or Franken brass gears, and you'll never have to worry about it again.

Actually it uses more than half of the gear, so turning it around moves the worn spot from the limits where the shear force is the worst, but you still hit that spot and eventually will deal with the problem again.
As others said, replace the plastic gear with brass one like Rodney's. It's not that difficult.
Funny ha ha, you have to replace or rebuild a head lamp motor. Don't ya luv the practical jokes your car can play on you!
Oh if you don't have huge hands you should be able to remove the motor without tearing everything apart. The lamp "painted" cover lid and the bezel, then manually elevate the assembly to gain access to remove the three bolts. You'll need a small ratchet. I've done both of mine. One then four months later the other. So, if this is your first expect the other to go shortly so while your at it do both lamp motors.
